According to a recent article published by Club Industry, COVID-19 is still a concern to many consumers, but 80 percent are open to returning to gyms, although 60 percent said they still prefer to work out at home or outdoors. As more and more people are vaccinated, 22.5 percent of consumers said they are waiting for more people to get the vaccine before deciding if they will return to the gym.

Sanitation is one of the deciding factors for choosing which health club to join, according to nearly half of those surveyed, and 26.7 percent of consumers said that extra safety precautions would motivate them to return to the gym.

Keep Your Current Cleaning Protocols Running

As people return to fitness centers and gyms, there’s an expectation that the facilities they frequent will be spotless. Even though restrictions may be easing, there’s still a need for cleaning and sanitizing to continue to occur—germs are ever present and a clean facility is a healthy facility. A few tips: Make sure you have wipes and dispensers in all high touch point areas, along with hand sanitizer readily available.

Cleaning and disinfecting regularly (especially when members are present) will reassure staff and guests that you’re taking every precaution to ensure their safety and health. Investing in tools like disinfecting sprayers are a terrific choice for 360° disinfection coverage of cardio machines, weights, doorknobs, handrails, restroom fixtures, and more.

What Extra Safety Precautions Should Your Gym Take?

It’s all about air quality. It's well documented that people demand indoor environments, especially fitness centers, to be clean and disinfected. Addressing air quality concerns is a major area that will set your club apart from the rest. Investing in air quality now will help your facility bring your members back, and attract new members, improving your bottom line.
